Review Round-Up: Dot-to-Dot Philadelphia

This past year several members of our Blog Team had the opportunity to review the We Are Connected Dot-to-Dot! Philadelphia book which is part of our 11th Grade Curriculum Kit. What they discovered is that these "extreme" dot-to-dot books are great for a wide range of ages--including adults! Check it out!

Cummins Life

Kathryn says, "I have been working on preparing for our upcoming school year and this has been such a fun book to have to relax, destress and take a break.  With all of my medical stuff that crept up this summer I am finding that I need to have more down time than I did previously.  This book was fun and relaxing for me and it was rewarding to see my completed puzzles." The Art Kit

Dana says, "While this book is geared towards ages 8 and up, Miss 7 and I enjoyed working on the puzzles together. At first glance, we were both admittingly unsure and a little apprehensive about Dot-to-Dot Philadelphia. It seemed difficult to determine which dot belonged to which number and at first we couldn’t even find the first dot but we were determined not to give up. I’m so glad we stayed with it because we really did have a blast and it wasn’t nearly as difficult as we thought it would be!" Read more...

Homework and Horseplay

Roxanne says, "I am very impressed with the Dot-to-Dot Philadelphia book so far. We homeschool year round, but in the summer I try to change up our math lessons to keep things interesting. This book is a fun way to keep the learning going,  and challenge your children all at the same time!" Read more...

Heather O'Steen Photography

Heather says, "I am always on the look out for simple activities that don’t require too much brain work for read-aloud times or other times when we need to just keep our hands busy but still able to engage in listening or communicating or just being together as a family.  This book kept the interest of both my middle schooler and my soon to be college bound student (insert mommy tears here).  Honestly, I even enjoy doing these dot to dot books myself – they can be very satisfying!  The recommended age is 8+. You can even color them when you are finished.   The dots range anywhere from 156 to 1,690! Incredible!  Some puzzles even spread across both pages." Read more...

Hopkins Homeschool

Amanda says, "There are 23 puzzles covering 30 pages in this book that guide us around the Parkway Museums District in Philadelphia. Yes, I said 23 puzzles and 30 pages. There are some puzzles that span 2 pages! We love a good challenge, and this book sure provided that for us in a fun way!" Read more...

Family, Faith, and Fridays

Michele says, "We Are Connected Dot to Dot Philadelphia is a part of the Timberdoodle 11th grade kit, but can also be purchased separately.  It can be used for so many things-

  • fine motor practice
  • math practice (some of the puzzles count into the thousands)
  • history (think state studies)
  • and even art (you can color to your heart's content)"

A to Z Learning Adventure

Carol says, "I have had a great time doing these extreme dot-to-dots. They have been a good way for me to take a break when I get overwhelmed with stuff at home. What a great destresser this book has been. I've always liked those adult coloring books, but this worked my brain a little bit differently. I loved discovering what the picture was as I completed more numbers. It was satisfying to say, "Oh, that's a face and here's the hat."" Read more...

Living Life Hour by Hour

Teresa says, "It's been a stressful few months and recently I've enjoyed working in the Dot to Dot! Philadelphia book that Timberdoodle sent us and drinking a coffee at the same time! I enjoy puzzles and word search type activities, so I was excited to try out this Dot to Dot book. Recently my youngest and I have been enjoying some great books on some of our men in history and I thought he'd enjoy seeing some of these pictures completed.  David Kalvitis has given us a unique activity book in that we can see pictures emerge that are located in the Parkway Museums District.  There are 23 puzzles in the book that show us institutions and attractions near the Benjamin Franklin Parkway." Roads to Everywhere

Karla says, "This book is included in Timberdoodle’s 11th Grade Curriculum Kit, but I’m not ashamed to admit I got it for me. I enjoy a variety of pencil puzzles (crossword, sudoku, logic…) as well as adult coloring books on occasion. I find them relaxing. The extreme dot-to-dot books fit right in there." Read more...
