Meet Michele of Family, Faith, and Fridays in Arizona

We are a retired military family of six. Our oldest two are girls and both have finished homeschooling and completed college. Our oldest son will attend college in the fall of 2020 and we are still homeschooling our 7th grader! We love to travel, read and spend time together.

Check out our blog at familyfaithandfridays.com and find us on Facebook.

How do you Timberdoodle?

We heard about Timberdoodle years ago by a friend who swore by the kits! I now review Timberdoodle products on my blog to help spread the word about the amazing products they carry. We enjoy all the fun "extras," but Notgrass History is one of our favorite core curriculum!

Tell us about a typical school day at your house.

I would love to say we start our day by 9:00, but well, you know...life! We cover all your basic core subjects, as well as add Spanish, Geography and one "fun" subject the kids help choose each semester. Once school is done, it's time for the chores for the day, independent time, family dinner, and devotions.

If we peeked inside your home on a random Wednesday afternoon, what would we see?

If you peeked in our home on a random Wednesday afternoon, you would see us finishing school, maybe running a few errands, and getting ready for our church home group to come over. Oh, and anxiously anticipating the weekend.

If you could take your family anywhere you wanted for vacation where would you go?

Someday I would love to roam the US with the family and see all the amazing things along the way!

What books have you read over and over?

The Bible, of course, which we read as a family each year. We also love historical fiction, and my son's favorite is the Percy Jackson series.

What dietary challenges does your family face?

We recently have gone on a six-month gluten free, dairy free and sugar free plan. It is easy to find two out of three, but adding the third factor in makes it challenging!

What tips do you have for surviving a hard day?

If we are having a challenging day, we stop and pray, refocus or change locations, and sometimes we just put school away and regroup together with some quiet family time.

What’s your favorite school day lunch?

We usually eat left overs, but fun treat include homemade pizza or quesadillas!

How would you manage if you had to homeschool without the internet?

Most of our schooling is done from old fashioned paper books, believe it or not. We would miss our math online and going down rabbit trails to look up fun facts if we were without internet.

What tips do you have for other families?

Take time to stop and enjoy your family! School is important, but people are much more so! The time is short, and while not every day is easy, every day is worth it!

What is something you appreciate about each of your kids?

I love my oldest's beautiful faith, my second's amazing creativity, my son's determination, and my youngest's sweetness!

What song is currently in your head?

We sing a lot of praise and worship in our home, but I am now stuck on the Shrek the Musical soundtrack.

Tell us about your family’s favorite games.

We LOVE games! Some of our favorites include UNO, Pass the Pandas, Qwixx and Sorry.
