Amanda
We are a family of 5! I am Amanda and my husband is Daniel. Daniel works for Txdot during the day, while myself homeschools our 3 boys! We have a 13-year- old named Cy, a 9-year-old named Colby, and a 4-year-old named Cannon. When Dad gets home from a 10-hour shift, I get to go to work. I work a part-time shift at a local dollar store. We only work Monday thru Thursday and then we get to enjoy our 3 days off with plenty of extra family time! Then, repeat! We love boating and all outdoor hobbies. We have a few backyard critters too! We have 3 cats, 2 dogs, and 1 horse. We love what we do and we thank you, Timberdoodle, for making it easier for us too!

How do you Timberdoodle?
Brandi: My mom bought my kids a few Lauri foam puzzles when they were little. I loved how durable the puzzles were! I'm always looking for new ideas to keep my kiddos busy and learning, and Timberdoodle has been a great place to find just such items!
Daiana: I love all the stuff that they offer, from learning toys, curriculum and the Bible learning too. It’s amazing.
Emily: I first heard about you on Facebook. We’ve been following you and have been waiting for the perfect time to get started with our boys!
Amanda: It was back when I first decided to homeschool, about 8 years ago, when I stumbled across Timberdoodle. I remember researching and researching it all and then just like that, I came across the website. I really like what I saw. It was so convenient too! We worked in Timberdoodle curriculums over the years. Absolutely love the simplicity! Unfortunately, some years are harder than others so I'd always refer back to Timberdoodle if I couldn't afford the desirable curriculums. Love the layout plans and everything about Timberdoodle. When I see someone on Facebook searching and asking where to go, I refer Timberdoodle every time. Thank you.
Kellie: I have never tried any of them but I am always looking for new things to try and find things that work better for my kids to learn with!
Tell us about a typical school day at your house.
Brandi: We typically begin school around 9:00 a.m. with Bible, history and/or science. Then the older ones go do their math, grammar, and reading while I help my youngest. The afternoon is usually when we get around to chores. Once or twice a month we usually have an "I love my house day" where we dig a little deeper into the areas that may have gotten neglected in the hustle and bustle of life!
Daiana: It’s my first year and I’m trying to get all chores done in the morning. I wake up before my children. We start at 8:00 a.m. and we learn about numbers, shapes, music. My daughter is 3. She learns with learning toys, and with my son math, reading, writing, devotional and more things.
Emily: Since our oldest is 2-and-a-half, we start our mornings with breakfast, then we play all day!
Amanda: My kids wake up around 7:00 a.m. They get themselves dressed and ready for their day. They fix their own breakfast. We start homeschooling between 8:00 a.m. and 9 a.m. On Mondays and Wednesdays, we do geography, history, spelling, and language. Then on Tuesdays and Thursdays, we focus on math, writing, and science. We do our reading assignments daily, Monday-Thursday in the evenings. We are normally finished around lunch time. Then our children have fun outside and chores later follow.
Kellie: We start about 8:30 a.m. and get done about 12:00 - 1:00. We do math, language arts, social studies, science, reading and writing Monday through Thursday! Friday is fun day! Games, puzzles, art projects, field trips, etc.
We take care of the animals, laundry, dishes daily and they help make dinner and clean up! They help clean the house also!
If we peeked inside your home on a random Wednesday afternoon, what would we see?
Brandi: By Wednesday afternoon we probably have school books everywhere, kids hoping I don't notice they are distracted, and I'm sipping coffee wondering when I need to reel them back to finishing their lessons. Especially on rainy days, we may set aside the text books for story time, baking or writing letters to family who don't live nearby.
Daiana: Probably a mess. A lot of books on the table, colors with coloring book and toys.
Emily: You would see a mom and her 2 boys snuggling on the couch getting ready for nap time.
Amanda: You would see me enjoying some quiet time on a Wednesday afternoons! My boys attend a wonderful local church group on Wednesday!

What tips do you have for surviving a hard day?
Brandi: Coffee! Making sure I'm not expecting more than the child is capable of. Praying together. Calling out math facts while a child runs a circle vs them sitting at the table (especially helpful for young boys).
What tips do you have for other families?
Brandi: Enjoy each stage, the years truly do go quickly! Try not to multitask too often. It's easy to get sidetracked with the never-ending "to-do" list and miss out on enjoying life with your curious kiddos!
