My family consists of my husband Dan, our two wonderful children (my son: Tristan, my daughter: Malia), two cats, and some chickens. We love hanging out on the farm and play board games together after our schoolwork is finished.

We are a family of four humans, one dog and two lizards. My 5-year-old is what started us on our homeschooling journey. His idea of playing is to learn. That is what led us to Timberdoodle. He never thinks he is learning (but oh, man, is he). We also have a 3-year-old little girl that is full of spunk and wants to do everything her brother does but nothing her brother does. Always a fun adventure in our house. I love being a stay-at-home mom and a homeschool teacher to these smart kiddos. They are above the grade in the curriculum they are learning. Especially my son. Never a dull moment. Having the loving support from my husband. Our dog is named after a beloved Seuss character and our lizards are an unexpected joy to watch daily.

How do you Timberdoodle?
Alicia: I have been using Timberdoodle for five years now. My kids are thriving with this program. I'm so happy I discovered Timberdoodle at the beginning of our homeschool adventure.
Jessica: We are currently using a mix of 2nd and 3rd grade for my 5-year-old, and Pre-K for my 3-year-old. My son LOVES the Story of the World series. We finished All About Reading and loved it. We are using All About Spelling and couldn't be happier with it. My daughter loves the Building Thinking Skills and Learn to Draw Animals. Both kiddos pull out thinking games daily. We have collected quite a few. A new favorite for my son is the Extreme Dot to Dot.
Di: We love logic games and sensory toys. Those are a huge part of our independent work daily.
Blythe: We pick and choose to add to our very eclectic homeschool!
Tell us about a typical school day at your house.
Alicia: Our typical school day begins right when we get up. Our goal is to finish school shortly after lunchtime. My kids thrive in the morning and are ready to relax afterward.
Jessica: We are early risers here. We start at 7:00 and work off the scheduler. I do school with my son in the morning and, if all goes well, done by 10:00. We then go about our day with outings, chores, play dates, co-op, and then school with my daughter before one or both helps mama in the kitchen make dinner. Sometimes my daughter wants school at the same time. A little troublesome but we work around it. Any project or experiment we include her. She is absorbing something.
Di: Midday start because Mum is not a morning person. We rotate subjects daily, hitting lit and math with everything else sprinkled on. Chores are part of school and meals are whenever we need them.
Blythe: We start around 9:00 after a good breakfast and sometimes a walk. Stop at 12:00 for lunch with Dad and finish around 3:00.
If we peeked inside your home on a random Wednesday afternoon, what would we see?
Alicia: You would see hardworking kids laying on the floor, or the couch, sometimes at the kitchen table, enjoying their homeschool adventure.
Jessica: I must admit we really love our school room. It's the most used room in the house. Even when the school day is done we are in the school room doing something. Games, crafts, more school. So you will probably be joining in the fun of whatever is on the table or floor, or digging through a shelf and finding something fun to do yourself.

If you could take your family anywhere you wanted for vacation where would you go?
Alicia: To an ocean beach.
Blythe: England
What books have you read over and over?
Alicia: Harry Potter
Blythe: Beatrix Potter
What dietary challenges does your family face?
Alicia: Lactose intolerance. We buy almond milk instead.
Blythe: Getting more veggies! We make morning smoothies to get them in our system.
What tips do you have for surviving a hard day?
Alicia: Lots of coffee and take time to relax!
Blythe: Meditation, prayer and fresh air!
What’s something your child has done that thrilled your soul?
Alicia: Showed kindness to a child who had a disability without being asked.
Blythe: Good to elderly and wonderful manners!
How does your family celebrate birthdays?
Alicia: Have a party with cake and ice cream.
Blythe: Sweets and an experience!
What have you done recently for the first time?
Alicia: Started working a part time job.
Blythe: Yoga
What’s your favorite school day lunch?
Alicia: Pizza!
Blythe: Chicken salad!
How would you manage if you had to homeschool without the internet?
Alicia: We would be fine :)
Blythe: Just fine! Books and more books!
What tips do you have for other families?
Alicia: Be patient. Walk away and take a break. It's generally easier when you come back after a cool off moment.
Blythe: Stay calm and remember that all homeschool families struggle at times. Don’t rush! Remember why you homeschool and enjoy moments!
What is something you appreciate about each of your kids?
Alicia: I love my son's piano skills and my daughter's amazing imagination.
Blythe: Their personalities! Their hearts.
