How do you Timberdoodle?

Mia: I first heard about Timberdoodle through Facebook homeschooling groups. We get the elite kits for my son. He loves Mind Benders and The Building Blocks of Science and the Step-by-Step Drawing Book!

Angela: We learned about the curriculum in a homeschooling group. So far we love Math-U-See products.

Sujean: I heard about Timberdoodle from a homeschooling group. I love incorporating the curriculum into our daily lives by using the lessons as learning experiences throughout the day. Not just sit down classroom time. It is so versatile and easy to play off of in any environment.

Rebekah: We first heard about Timberdoodle way back in the late 1980's. Love their hands-on learning style.

Tell us about a typical school day at your house.

Mia: We get up around 8:00 a.m., have a leisurely breakfast and some playtime, and then start school at 9:00. We break for lunch between noon and 1:00 and then resume until our work is done. Some days we are done at lunch, but on bad days, we may still be working when dinner approaches. We do language arts every day (spelling, grammar, literature, handwriting) and some sort of logic work (games, workbooks, or puzzles.) Science is on Monday and Wednesday, and math and history are on Tuesday and Thursday. My son always looks forward to geography on Fridays; his favorite is working on the Geopuzzles.

Angela: We are working on building our son's attention span. So we integrate learning throughout the day in short increments. We fit in school and learning wherever we can.

Sujean: Our day starts for school when my son awakes. We work on different subjects each day. Math and reading daily. These we do numerous times as we can build math and reading skills in our daily lives. History we do as a structured activity. Science is done both as structured and spur of the moment such as cooking and playing.

Rebekah: We start education around 8:00 a.m. after breakfast, and do chores in the afternoon. Math and English every day, history and science alternating days.

If we peeked inside your home on a random Wednesday afternoon, what would we see?

Mia: Probably a lot of playing. We seem to finish up early on Wednesdays. And you would see the latest art project hanging on the fridge, because we do art on Wednesdays!

Angela: On Wednesdays we welcome a few therapists into our home to help our son with some skills. You would see a child laughing and playing with his friends.

Sujean: Business. There are always things going on with school, therapies, horseback riding.

Rebekah: Reading in every nook and cranny.
