My name is Amanda. I have two children, 14 and 3.
How do you Timberdoodle?
Melissa: We started using Timberdoodle curriculum pieces last year - history, spelling, and science. This year we are went all in with the 3rd grade curriculum. We love all of it!
Christina: I learned of Timberdoodle on a homeschool curriculum site. Our favorite items tend to be the board game type products. We use Timberdoodle items as a supplement to a public school education.
Amanda: We are new. I am wanting to try.
Tell us about a typical school day at your house.
Melissa: School hours at our house from roughly 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. We spend the morning on math and language arts and rotate afternoons with history, science, art and etc.
Christina: We use the items whenever we have extended time from school or when the kids need assistance/want to do more.
Amanda: I work with oldest who is in public school and work with 3-year-old daily and I own a licensed daycare.
If we peeked inside your home on a random Wednesday afternoon, what would we see?
Melissa: On Wednesdays we are usually doing Spanish and Scratch Coding. We also do a lesson in the Critical & Creative book.
Christina: Since we supplement a public school our school age child is at school and our preschool age would be at her activities away from home.
Amanda: A mess. I would be cleaning up and waiting for parents to come and the kiddos would be playing a game.
If you could take your family anywhere you wanted for vacation where would you go?
Melissa: Italy.
Christina: The kids want to go to Disney.
What books have you read over and over?
Melissa: Little Women
Christina: Click Clack Moo, Jigsaw Jones books
What tips do you have for surviving a hard day?
Melissa: Breathing. Taking a 5 minute break. Going for a walk.
Christina: Do one thing at a time and if something doesn't get done it can be done the next time.
What’s something your child has done that thrilled your soul?
Melissa: Sends letters to friends. She’s super kind to all the dogs in our neighborhood. When she tries something new, even when she’s unsure.
How does your family celebrate birthdays?
Melissa: Special breakfast at our local diner. Day dedicated to that person - we do what makes that person happy. Gifts, of course.
Christina: We usually have dinner and cupcakes with grandparents.
