Meet 2 Families from the Dakotas

Joe P. of South Dakota

We are a small family of six. I work in agriculture and my wife Katie stays home with our four little ones: Freyja, Duncan, Ada, and Genevieve. Our little ones are all 4 years old and under so Katie works hard setting them up for success from a young age. Timberdoodle has been a huge part of our family since the beginning and has been a fun and vital part of our children's early education.

Jenny from North Dakota

Mom, Dad, E age 6, K age 3 and I age 1. Mom is a physician and Dad is a police officer. We have a golden retriever and enjoy all outdoor activities

How do you Timberdoodle?

Joe: Katie first showed me Timberdoodle when Freyja was born and we've been buying kits ever since. One of the things we have loved the most is how Timberdoodle grows with our little ones. Every day presents an opportunity to learn and grow.

Jenny: We found out about Timberdoodle on a homeschool forum. We use the full elite curriculum with just a few tweaks. We love Horizons math and the art and games.

Tell us about a typical school day at your house.

Joe: Since our little ones are still pretty young we stay flexible on school times. Numbers and letters are a big focus for us right now with our youngest working more on fine motor skills. It is important to have our whole family involved in our meal cooking, whether that is a bowl of cereal for breakfast or mac and cheese for lunch. A favorite in our house is a snack of bananas and oranges. All throughout the day we work to ensure our spaces are cleaned up and our stuff is put away. It takes everyone helping to keep our home tidy.

Jenny: We start after breakfast and some play time, usually around 10:00 a.m. The kids choose what gets done each day as long as they are checking off all of their boxes.

If we peeked inside your home on a random Wednesday afternoon, what would we see?

Joe: Typically we would just be following our routine. Wednesdays usually are library days, so we take the family to the library for story time and we pick out new books for the week.

Jenny: Wednesday afternoons consist of lunch, outside play time, some school, quiet time and then getting ready for church.
