Piano for Life - Masterclass
Are you one of the twenty million Americans who took piano lessons in their youth but never became proficient? There is a seemingly common denominator amongst many of us quitters: Our piano teachers relied too much on rigid teaching methods, which resulted in months or even years of drudgery before we ever felt adept at making music. There is a better technique for introducing your child to the pleasure of playing the piano.
In his online course, Piano For Life, Mark Almond dispenses with this modern but frequently ineffective method of learning music. Instead, he takes the student back to the classical method of instruction, the way the composers and pianists of the past learned, teaching piano with chords and harmony. Ultimately, his goal is to produce more musical and less mechanical playing.
Piano For Life - Masterclass starts with two three-note chords. It demonstrates, via an overhead camera aimed at the keys of a piano or electronic keyboard, how to experiment with the tones of the chords. Thanks to Mark's clear instructions, your child will learn how to form any major or minor chord. Immediately, even your most reluctant learner is making satisfying sounds on the piano. Chord progressions are based on logical, easy-to-learn connections, eliminating mind-numbing hours spent trying to decipher sheet music.
Your student continues developing skills throughout the lessons, covering essential concepts such as musical notation, timing, and expressive playing. And because Piano For Life is an online course, each child can progress at his own pace. Six hours of professional, straightforward instruction will give your child a clear understanding of the fundamental ideas of music theory.
By the end of the course, students will learn all the standard chord symbols. And because understanding harmony is the key to producing pleasant music, your student will learn to apply the simple rules of harmony even if he cannot read music. Additionally, traditional sight-reading will become more accessible, reducing difficulty and confusion. After completing the course, students will be able to improvise a little and play some by ear.
To start Piano for Life, students need to know the names of the piano keys and be able to picture each of the seven distinct white keys. Students should also be able to visualize each of the five black keys, even though each has two names. Piano For Life - Masterclass gradually introduces traditional terms, ensuring a smooth and thorough learning experience. While Piano for Life - Masterclass caters to beginning through intermediate students of all ages, children under 10 may require adult assistance. Any parent, even one without prior musical training, can demonstrate these musical ideas with young children. To enhance musical skills, delve into music theory, and practice creative exercises, try Piano for Life today.
What is Included in Piano for Life - Masterclass?
This is a set of two digital courses, each offering lifetime access.
The 10 lessons in the first course lay an important introductory framework, teaching foundational concepts that will enable even elementary-age learners to succeed in later lessons. This 90-minute course's title, Piano for Quitters, is perhaps a bit of a misnomer, as the course is an important stepping-stone for novices as well as a great fresh start for former piano lesson "quitters."
The second course, Piano for Life, provides the larger portion of the instruction, with 21 lessons spanning four and a half hours of video. Because of the framework set by the introductory course, many students can work through the Piano for Life lessons independently without parental assistance.
