When we pulled our youngest out of school to home school we also pulled our middle child as well. He likes the History books and the Science and has taken the initiative to look at the weekly lesson plans and do all his lessons on his own. (Yes! It's that easy to follow that my 10 year old is teaching himself, and when he gets stuck he comes and asks for help, which is rare.) However, he is loving the Math books the most and likes to works ahead sometimes and will neglect his other subjects. So we have to watch him! LOL
He is not a fan of Doodle America, 101 Doodle Definitions, Dot to Dot, or Draw the USA but that is because of the negative experiences he has had within our local school district. We have also found that he and his brother are both struggling with cursive writing. What's more troubling is the fact that the teachers at our school district have taught incorrect penmanship writing skills to our son that will have to be relearned.
Had we not homeschooled our children these things that we have found out about our children would have more than likely gone unnoticed. The other plus is that my children are smiling and happy once again. They are even whistling around the house again! They have thanked me almost every day for the first two weeks for taking them out of school and homeschooling them, and after a month they say that they are still loving it and are back to being excited to telling me what all they and their Dad learned that day.
Thank you TimberDoodle for giving me back my family's peace and happiness and for helping my sons continue their education!
