Exploring Creation with Physical Science

Exploring Creation with Physical Science, 3rd Edition 2-book set is designed to be the last science course the student takes before high school biology. Thus, we generally recommend it as an 8th-grade course. However, your student can also use it for their 9th-grade coursework.

The text discusses such topics as:

  • The atmosphere
  • The hydrosphere
  • Weather
  • The structure of the earth
  • Environmentalism
  • The physics of motion
  • Newton's Laws, gravity, and more.

It is an excellent course for preparing students to take a college-prep high school science curriculum. See our optional lab kit here.

Note: These books are not for every student. They are massive, detailed, and require a fair amount of math. A student who does not yet excel at math or will be overwhelmed by the textbook format may lose their zeal for science if forced to proceed down this track. Instead, we suggest looking at Friendly Physical Science for a gentler approach to feed their interest without overwhelming them.

A Word Of Warning
These books are not for every student. They are massive, detailed and require a fair amount of math. A student who does not yet excel at math or will be overwhelmed by the textbook format may lose their zeal for science if forced to proceed down this track. Instead, we suggest looking at Friendly Physical Science for a gentler approach that will feed their interest without overwhelming them.

    Exploring Creation with Physical Science

I like this science in some ways & in some ways I don't. First, the notebook is cool & it has a lot of really neat pictures to look at of space. The experiments are really cool too & usually don't use anything we don't already have around the house, so I like that. What I don't like is that the questions don't always word things the way the textbook does. So when you are looking for the answer, a lot of times you have to really figure it out because the book doesn't just say it plainly like the question is asking.

    Apologia's Physical Science

It is descriptive and complicated, which I like. The book goes really deep into the subjects from the modules.

    Solid curriculum

This is a wonderful introduction to high school science. My eight grade son really enjoyed and learned a lot about earth science, physics and chemistry from this course. The book is well laid out and very readable. I would certainly recommend this for a 8-9th grade student.

Gold standard in junior high/high school science

It's easy to see why Dr. Wile's science books are usually the default among older homeschooled students. The writing is a conversational tone that makes the book a joy to read, and the child can learn with minimal help from the parent. Additionally, at this level the labs use regular household materials that can be purchased at the grocery store, so you don't have to seek out a specialty supplier. We're using this for a 9th grader, and I'd highly recommend it.
