Building Thinking Skills

These thinking skills books are among our favorites because of their tremendous scope. They develop four basic analytical skills (similarities/differences, sequences, classification, and analogies) through figural and verbal problems.

In addition, there are problems dealing with deductive reasoning, map skills, Venn diagrams, mental manipulation of two-dimensional objects, and much more.

Studies have shown that students using these books have significantly raised their national test scores in both content and cognitive tests! What's more, these books are never dull!

Features
Building Thinking Skills Book 1 includes answers, objectives, and focus questions.

Beginning Thinking Skills Review by The Flanders Family

review by the Flanders Family

”The workbooks are designed to be consumable, but I’ve always preferred to sit with a child on either side of me and work through the exercises together — at least for the beginning books. They think through each problem and take turns pointing to the correct answer.”

Im on the fence

I liked certain aspects of this book. I liked the concepts it introduced and that it built on the concept from easy to more difficult. I didnt like the amount of work on each page. I find it difficult to skip things and my second grader found it difficult to really focus on the work because of the amount of tasks per page.

One Loves It, One Not So Much - Still Valuable

This book reviews intensely valuable thinking and visual skills. Important for future success in math and thinking skill development. One of my kids LOVES working in this workbook and one would rather do almost any other subject - but it's important enough that they both have worked it from cover to cover.

Just Alright

My daughter does fine with the book. Some of the chapters require a decent proficiency with reading. My kid struggles with reading and needs me to read each page to her. She was able to complete the math on her own.

Good Critical Thinking Challenges

The book provides age-appropriate critical thinking challenges. However, it would be nice if these books were not split up into sections but instead varied throughout. The sections can get a little repetitive.

Kati,

We are glad you are satisfied with this book! If your child prefers more variety, we encourage you to feel free to jump around and work in all the different categories. Some children will prefer to work through it sequentially, but my two sons are going through this book right now, and I just rip out pages from the different sections for them to keep the weeks varied. :)

I hope this helps!

Hope - for the Timberdoodle Team

Great thinking book

My kids always do well with these books. Tons of fun activities and great variety to keep them interested. I’m always impressed to see them finish the entire huge book. They also enjoy the accomplishment.
