My First Peter and the Wolf
Timberdoodle's Review
My First Peter and the WolfChild prodigy Sergei Prokofiev was born in 1891 in a village in Ukraine. He began composing music when he was just five. Given this, it should be no surprise that one of his most beloved pieces, Peter and the Wolf, was written as a child's introduction to the orchestra. Each character in the story is represented by a different instrument or group of instruments.
My First Peter and The Wolf will introduce your toddler to the classic tale of how a little boy outsmarts a big, bad wolf. Are you familiar with the original storyline? In that case, you will be relieved to know that while My First Peter and The Wolf follows the basic narrative, this version is more toddler-friendly. No duck dinner for the wolf!
The full-orchestra musical clips sound lovely, and your toddler will enjoy activating the sensors located on the sturdy pages. Just touch the sensor and enjoy the music. There are six high-quality sound segments, each 20 to 40 seconds long. The illustrations are well-matched to the story and will provide you with lots of discussion points. The final spread shows each of the main characters with the instruments that represented them. What a memorable way to introduce musical instruments to young children!
