    Horizons 2

This is a solid math program. I'd say a little advanced for grade level. Some pages have a lot of problems required but there is definitely enough practice. The art is like 90s style clip art. Definitely a little "retro" but we like it!

So excited to start with a spiral math program so we dont feel we are constantly reteaching. My daughter was scared at first but after getting to see the books first hand now, she is less apprehensive and ready to dig in.

    Great math curriculum

We switched to Horizons from Math U See and it’s working so much better for us. My first grader is enjoying the color pages and different activities than the repetition from MUS.

    Love the workbooks

Using this for my 2nd grader. She enjoys the colors and problems and is challenged by the work. This is the right level for her.

    Horizon Math 2

This is our first year using a math curriculum and after careful consideration I chose Horizons Math 2. I like that it has a teachers manual. The manual guides me through what we need to do for each lesson and what I need to prepare for the lesson. At first it seemed like a lot of prep work but once I read through it I realized it really wasn't that much and some of the things they recommend aren't necessary for us. For example: we don't need flashcards for tally marks, ordinal numbers, days of week, or the months and we don't need a place value pocket chart. Math is NOT my son's favorite subject and these lessons are the right length for him - about 30 mins a day give or take. He likes it so far - we just started and have made it through 5 lessons. The lessons to this point have been a review for him and he thinks they are easy. Which is nice because he doesn't get so stressed out. He is building his addition/subtraction skills (flashcards are a daily part of the lesson) and I know as we continue through the book we will progress to skills he hasn't covered yet. I would absolutely consider using the next level for the next school year. Bottom line - he likes it , I like it! We are happy!
