First Language Lessons Level 4

If your approach to language arts is a blend of classical education with a pinch of Charlotte Mason’s ideas, you will be quite pleased with First Language Lessons

With two to three short lessons a week, First Language Lessons Level 4 covers a full range of grammar topics, including parts of speech, punctuation, sentence diagrams, and beginning writing and storytelling skills.

It requires very little teacher prep; just open the instruction manual, read the script, and follow directions to teach the concepts.

The student workbook has appealing fonts and plenty of white space, so the individual pages are less intimidating for children.

First Language Lessons Level 4’s spiral learning ensures mastery for every child, which is essential for this foundational year of language study.

First Language Lessons Level 4 Bundle includes First Language Lessons 4 Student Workbook and First Language Lessons 4 Instructor Text.

From the Publisher:
First Language Lessons uses classical techniques of memorization, dictation, and narration to develop your child’s language ability in the important, foundational years of language study. The "Family Man" of curriculum!

We were feeling bored with the same old, same old. We wanted something new and exciting!...what a mistake!
Like a spouse dissatisfied with their partner and chasing after some young, hot thing, we realized our mistake! Young and hot is EXHAUSTING and leaves you feeling somehow wanting. That partner you "oh-so-casually" dumped at the wayside isn't boring, they are faithful, dependable,...emotionally available! And they don't require hours at the gym... er, Cricut machine for an optimum experience!

Not offense to the "young, hot thing", they are someone's soul mate for sure! Just not ours.

Very thorough English curriculum

As an ELA major, I knew I wanted something that thoroughly covered English language arts in all aspects. This hit every mark! Children memorize classic poetry, learn punctuation and capitalization rules, and are taught many other facets of the English language. They did not always love it, especially my son. Lessons are largely auditorily lead by the teacher, and he struggled to pay attention. The lessons make sure to revisit and review concepts regularly to ensure mastery as well.

First Language Lessons 4

This is our core grammar text. Yes, it's repetitive. Yes, it's simple and plain. It's also quick, and thorough, and my daughter and I laugh at each other while we chant out the repetitive bits. It's too quick and simple to be boring much - it's straight to the point and done, and your kids will know their stuff. Also, we really enjoy the memory work poems. We love all Susan Wise Bauer's curriculum in our house, actually!
