Editor In Chief Level 1

We use these for practicing what my daughter learned in her main language arts books. It's good practice to be able to pick out and correct errors - to be able to spot misspellings, bad grammar, poor punctuation, etc. There are sections to teach the usages of the various elements, but we skip over those. My daughter enjoys these books, as they're a change from the usual and require different skills than just writing or circling the correct answers, like in most workbooks for English. I think it's fun for her to find other people's mistakes. :-)

This was better than I expected! 4th-6th grade appropriate, it has a simple grammar lesson followed by exercises to deftly find the grammar mistakes (notice the split infinitive). Simple enough for independent study, I have my kids do a lesson a week. What is really clever about this workbook is on each page there is a checklist detailing the number of mistakes for each category. This allows the student to figure it what is still missing. This is not my primary grammar resource but something to mix up grammar lessons during a year. 4 stars

This can be a dry topic for most kids, but it is presenting in the most exciting and fun way possible! My son benefitted a lot from this book.

I thought this was pretty good and I did see some improvement in my daughter's work after using it. She did get bored with it fairly quickly, though. I think we only ended up doing half the book because she begged to stop.

I thought "Editir In Chief" was a fantastic way of teaching kids how to get used to correcting their own work.
