The Basics of Critical Thinking

The Basics of Critical Thinking is another favorite book from The Critical Thinking Co. This workbook's color illustrations, engaging storylines, and clear explanations teach your student how to think.

He'll learn about common argument forms and practice the critical skill of identifying and evaluating evidence. The Basics of Critical Thinking teaches such a vital skill that your student might find that it's the part of this year's schoolwork that he uses most throughout the rest of his life. Plus, he will have such a blast completing it!

Although this book teaches common argument forms, its primary focus is identifying and evaluating evidence – the very basis of critical thinking.

Most propaganda, advertising schemes, legal trickery, and bad science are not the result of complex arguments; they result from half-truths and simple arguments.

The Basics of Critical Thinking utilizes an engaging yet far from juvenile approach to provide your student with the tools to see through such false arguments. Appropriate for students as young as 4th grade and up through 9th grade.

    My son loves it!

This is by far my son's favorite book in our curriculum! He selects it on his own most days and will finish it long before I expected because he opts to do it nearly daily rather than the 1 day per week I scheduled it for. He is learning important skills and can learn the info and complete the various activities independently. This was one part of our curriculum I wasn't sure he would enjoy, and surprisingly it quickly became his favorite!!!

My son is in 7th grade and we haven't used this book much, but it a great addition to his curriculum this year. He likes it.
