Exploring the Building Blocks of Science Book 4 Bundle

Exploring the Building Blocks of Science Book 4 Student Textbook has 22 chapters. It introduces students to how chemistry, biology, physics, astronomy, and geology are used to study the planet we live on and the cosmos.

Students learn about chemical reactions, states of matter, heat, vertebrates, invertebrates, arthropods, waves, sound, light, Earth's cycles, ecology, natural resources, space exploration, and much more.

Students begin the open inquiry with suggested questions found in the Teacher's Manual, which also has directions for guiding the experiments. The Laboratory Notebook contains 22 experiments that explore topics covered in the Student Text. Experiments include modeling chemical bonding, exploring states of matter, and making a field notebook. Your student can observe frog and butterfly life cycles, explore sound vibration, make waves, and much more.

Each book has 4 chapters of each of the 5 core science subjects (chemistry, biology, physics, geology, and astronomy) and an introductory and a concluding chapter for 22 chapters. If you would like a convenient, time-saving way to get nearly all of the materials you will need for the experiments, we now offer a lab kit! This lab kit is already assembled with virtually every non-household item the curriculum requires, so you won't have to search for elusive components.

About Real Science-4-Kids Building Blocks of Science

Kids ask real science questions. Building Blocks of Science enables them to discover real science answers. Because science disciplines are so interlaced, learning one subject requires a foundational understanding of another. Building Blocks of Science addresses this by introducing students to the five core scientific disciplines of chemistry, biology, physics, geology, and astronomy.

With Building Blocks of Science, students learn science in a sequential and logical order, beginning with fundamental building blocks of science and expanding on these as they advance in grade level. Hands-on experiments for each chapter encourage critical thinking, experimentation, and creativity.

Exploring the Building Blocks of Science is a year-long program for grades 1-7, covering all five core disciplines. It's based on a spiral teaching method where subjects are repeatedly visited and built upon over months and across grades. This has proven to lead to better long-term mastery of facts and concepts.

Building Blocks of Science is written to accommodate both secular and Christian homeschoolers. The publisher, Real Science-4-Kids, has received several awards, including the Practical Homeschooling Reader Awards. The study bundles contain a student textbook, teacher's manual, laboratory notebook, printable lesson plans, quizzes, and a study notebook. See our optional lab kit here.

The Building Blocks Laboratory Notebook includes the 5 core science subjects (chemistry, biology, physics, geology, and astronomy) integrated into one softcover notebook.

The Laboratory Notebook is meant to accompany the Building Blocks Student Textbook and Building Blocks Teacher’s Manual for one year of study.

  • There are (22) experiments in each Laboratory Notebook that align to the chapters in the Student Textbook.

    Good basic science projects

These are mostly short lessons with a project for each. Some are super simple and some require more prep and materials. The material is pretty easy to understand and to teach, but you’ll need to brush up on the lessons beforehand at times.

    Horrible

Horrible curriculum, first lab is finding and taking apart a cell phone. Lab Kit comes with low grade supplies. See attached picture of the jellybeans required and the jellybeans supplied. It just got worse from there. 4/7 experiments have been a failure due to low quality supplies. My son is always so excited to do experiments, but he is left disappointed, and I’m left frustrated.

    Carla,
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review! We are so sorry for your disappointment! After reading your and other's reviews expressing frustration with the jellybean experiment, we contacted the lab kits' makers and passed on the issues you all have with the components. We look forward to them being able to revamp what is included in the next year's kits, so it will not be a continued issue. I am so sorry for all the frustration it caused. Thank you again for your feedback; customers like you are part of what keeps Timberdoodle Crazy Smart!

    Highly recommend

This is such a great program...especially if you want a very solid scientific base in your homeschool curriculum. Fairly advanced, but top notch quality.

    Amazing

I knew my daughter loves science but with Building Blocks of Science Bundle, we took it to the next level. In just 3 days, we finished two chapters and did one experiment. We are enjoying the experiments a lot. I will sure buy for next year.

This is ok. My child is learning and does enjoy making the little books that they glue together.
