The Basics of Critical Thinking

The Basics of Critical Thinking is another favorite book from The Critical Thinking Co. This workbook's color illustrations, engaging storylines, and clear explanations teach your student how to think.

He'll learn about common argument forms and practice the critical skill of identifying and evaluating evidence. The Basics of Critical Thinking teaches such a vital skill that your student might find that it's the part of this year's schoolwork that he uses most throughout the rest of his life. Plus, he will have such a blast completing it!

Although this book teaches common argument forms, its primary focus is identifying and evaluating evidence – the very basis of critical thinking.

Most propaganda, advertising schemes, legal trickery, and bad science are not the result of complex arguments; they result from half-truths and simple arguments.

The Basics of Critical Thinking utilizes an engaging yet far from juvenile approach to provide your student with the tools to see through such false arguments. Appropriate for students as young as 4th grade and up through 9th grade.

This is a favorite of my 8th graders! Each lesson has detailed information to explain the concept and clear examples of the exercises. For his learning style, this would probably be best done with a parent but an independent learner wouldn't struggle at all.

    My daughter likes this

My 13 year old dyslexic has a love hate with this book lol!!! When it’s easy she loves it. When it’s not obvious what it’s asking she is frustrated. But that’s the nature of a critical thinking workbook. In the end she does like it
