Timberdoodle's Review

The Big Picture Story Bible (Hardback)

Bible story books are ubiquitous, strewn across the waiting room table or jammed into a spinning bookrack alongside graphic novels of Thor and Ironman. They may even be lurking under the back seat of your van where you can see but can't quite reach it.

But most of those Bible story books sorely lack the cohesive thread God has woven through the Old and New Testaments. The Bible was not intended to be a collection of short stories but rather a multi-generational study of why we need a Savior. The Big Picture Story Bible was the first children's book we have seen that accomplishes that goal.

Written with the simplicity this age group craves, The Big Picture Story Bible is an ideal first Bible story book. It succinctly unfurls the story of the Creator's plan to bring this rebellious world back under the rule of its rightful King.

Many Bible story books err by allowing the stories' characters to become idols: Noah rescues the animals, David triumphs over Goliath, and Moses leads the Israelites. However, The Big Picture Story Bible remains truly God-centered as it recaps the progressive story of redemption.

Because this is a children's book, a book you want even non-readers poring over, exceptional artwork is imperative. Even here, The Big Picture Story Bible does not disappoint. It is exceedingly evident that the large, beautiful artwork was well thought out; each appealing illustration has been executed with excellence.

This is not a children's Bible. Instead, The Big Picture Story Bible integrates many familiar Bible stories into one storyline that shows how a glorious God keeps His promise. After your children have been saturated with that awesome message, turn to a children's Bible to fill in all the details.

Great Book

We have really enjoyed this book in our house. We have several of the Timberdoodle Bible books for young readers and this one is a favorite. It has colorful picture keeping the child engaged and few words on each page making it much easier for younger readers. Very happy we added this book to our home library.

Great for Advent

We have owned this book for many years. The illustrations are lovely and fully cover the pages. And the illustrations often lead to questions from little ones that lead to great discussions, such as, “Why is she crying?” Or “Why is he looking up at the stars?” Etc.
The book does not have much text, so it can be read through in a short time. But we have found it makes a great text for advent as it goes through the whole Bible quickly, but all the time pointing toward the coming Messiah.

The Big Picture Story Bible

They should have told me it only had a few words. I liked the story, it was told in a way people could understand. I would say it has good, big pictures, and few words and it teaches people about Jesus in a cool way.

Good for any age

This Bible does what I have wanted to do for years: bring God's HUGE story down to a kids level without loosing the basic meaning. It does not get focused on parts of the story, but keeps the theme of God's heart from Creation: God's People, Living in Gods Place, Gods way. I was encouraged the first time i read it and i have read and re-read it to all four of my kids and now my oldest reads it to my preschoolers friends. The gospel is clear and it does not deviate into 'types' as much as is now popular. if you have ever had Progress of Redemption classes...this is that class for pre-schoolers

Story Bible is GREAT for little ones.

My son really enjoyed the stories and pictures. The stories are the perfect length for 4-6 year olds and God's truth was illuminated. We enjoyed it a lot and would suggest it to anyone who wants to add "Bible" to their curriculum for preschool.
