Intro to Filmmaking - Nonreligious
Our brains and our hearts are wired for stories. Intro to Filmmaking allows your student to explore storytelling creatively through the universally appealing medium – film. Intro to Filmmaking is a fantastic online film curriculum for preteens and teens. The course includes an Intro to Filmmaking spiral-bound worktext with 18 in-depth lessons and projects. After each lecture, students are given an appropriate assignment that can be completed by either individuals or co-op groups.

Family-friendly movies (not included but readily available) and a critical evaluation of them are integral in this course. All of these lessons are building up to creating your student’s own short film. That final film will be submitted for professional review and entered into a film festival complete with prizes! Intro to Filmmaking not only fulfills every student’s desire to be a creative storyteller, but it also fulfills a high school credit.

    Such a cool program!

This is a really great program! There is a workbook which the student uses with the online program. Each week a movie is assigned with at least 1 page in the workbook dedicated to analysis of the movie. Typically, we read the workbook questions before watching the movie and then have a family movie night to watch whatever movie is assigned that week. My 7th grader requested this course and sometimes the questions are advanced for his skill level but he really enjoys working on the questions with the family. My son is really interested in film making and this is giving him a point of view that he hadn't considered or been aware of.
I like that we get a weekly email that informs us what percentage of the program has been completed.

We paired this with a script writing book from Timberdoodle.
