Lab Kit for Exploring the Building Blocks of Science Book 2

Have you ever used Building Blocks of Science and wished you had a prebuilt lab kit with the supplies you needed instead of going out and getting the items yourself? Have you thought about using Building Blocks of Science but felt intimidated by searching several stores to gather the lab supplies? Make your life easier, and save a ton of time by purchasing the lab supply kit that correlates to the experiments in Building Blocks of Science 2.

The lab kit contains over 30 items you are not likely to have around the house. You will still need to gather a few things from around the house, like a few standard office supplies, some kitchen items, balls, etc. You may also have to buy food items, but trust us, this is a good thing. You do not want a kit shipped to your house full of fresh fruits, vegetables, and cheese that has been sitting on a warehouse shelf.

However, for the things you would have to pick up at the craft store, hobby store, and/or superstore, this handy kit has virtually all of them in just the quantities you'll need to complete your experiments. This kit also does not include a handful of optional or cost-prohibitive items that you won't find in your home. If you choose to complete those experiments or parts of experiments, you'll need to pick those up.

Note: this kit is designed to be used by a parent or teacher with a child. It is not intended for use by children 12 and under unsupervised.

    Saves Time

This is well worth every penny. It would cost much more to get the supplies for all the science experiments in Building Blocks of Science 2. Not to mention that it saves me hours of time searching for things. The only things I have to buy are the perishables which often times I already have in the house.

    Lab kit for science 2

The lab kit for this is okay. I was not a fan of the science curriculum for this kit it had its pros and cons. The kit is okay for what you can use, but I wish it would have been packaged better. The kit arrived in a standard brown shipping box, so I had to get my own box to store the items in. The clay in the kit was very difficult to work with for the experiment. It was hard to mold and shape. The goggles are a classic science staple along with the magnifying glass so that was great addition to the kit.

Nice addition to your household items

I'll start by saying my girls and I love this kit. It has made science infinitely more enjoyable for the kids and substantially more manageable for me to prepare lessons/experiments. Is it perfect? Does includes every possible thing you may need from the book? No.

I ordered this after reading through the items needed in our science book. Heads up - it's quite a list. I recommend reading through what's NOT included - most of which can easily be found in your household or grocery store. Regarding the things not included and not easily found - we were able to substitute some stuff. Instead of bug wings, we used different leaves from different plants. Some things you can order from Amazon (love/hate relationship for life). Some experiments we won't be able to do (looking at you red cabbage and protozoa). To me, not being able to do a few experiments, or having to modify them, is not a deal breaker. To some, it might be.

Overall, I give it a 10 out of 10 recommendation.

    Fun for my 2nd grader

My 2nd grade son loves science (and anything that's hands-on). Getting this kit gave him more ways to explore and participate in hands-on learning.

Helpful but pay attention to what is not included too

This was helpful to get a lot of the things needed for the experiments. I ended up not liking the actual program, but this kit was nice for the experiments that we did end up doing. It didn't have everything, so make sure you read ahead on what you'll need for the next week so you can make sure you're prepared.
