Timberdoodle's Review

Exploring Creation with Botany

Exploring Creation with Botany begins with a lesson on the nature of botany and the process of classifying plants. Then it discusses the development of plants from seeds, the reproduction processes in plants, the way plants make their food, and how plants get their water and nutrients and distribute them throughout the plant's body.

As students study these topics, they learn about many different kinds of plants in Creation and where they belong in the plant classification system. See our optional lab kit here.

truly amazing!

I knew we needed to step up our science curriculum this year, and this was such a fun and easy experience! The reading portion of the lesson are short and sweet to keep kids' attention. The activities are pretty easy to do, but I do recommend looking ahead and planning for those. I also love how the lessons/activities are planned out for you in the notebooking journal! That was a life saver when I found it. No more planning for me! Just flip to the page to see what we are supposed to do that day.

Botany

We enjoyed reading the botany book, and liked the pictures and info, but skipped the note booking. My daughter likes the way Apologia's books read, although occasionally finds some of the text repetitive. I wouldn't do these books with younger (early elementary) kids, though, unless your child has a particularly impressive ability to deal with lots of text (to read or to listen to and process).

Exploring Creation with Botany

Exploring Creation with Botany wasn't my favorite. It is really thorough and in depth, so maybe I just got more than I bargained for. I couldn't keep up with the constant need of gathering materials and supplies for which these projects ask. Next time I'm going with Berean Science and also picking up the pre-made material kit that accompanies it. Really, what I wanted for botany was a text to go along with us putting in a garden, and this pushed our workload over the limit. This is an in depth full botany curriculum full of projects that you'll want to have the time to schedule in if you want to try! We will probably look at this again when the kids are a little older.
