Test Prep: Grade 3

Home-taught children who are not prepared for their yearly standardized tests are at a distinct disadvantage from the government- and privately-taught children.

If you reside in a state that requires standardized tests, you should know that most certified teachers teach with the test in mind. In other words, teachers understand the types of questions that will appear on the standardized tests, and they will spend weeks preceding the tests covering the necessary information. If you do not do likewise, your children stand a chance of performing poorly in comparison.

For those of us in a state where some form of testing is required but never scrutinized, preparing is not as critical. However, some of you are in states where the test results are not only analyzed but used as a basis for whether you may continue to home educate. Why not ensure your children are "playing on a level playing field"? The Test Prep series offers students the essential groundwork to prepare for standardized tests.

Based on subject areas covered by most state standardized tests, these colorful, inviting workbooks provide a good sampling of all the skills required for each grade level. Practice pages, strategies, tips, and full-length practice tests build test-taking confidence and skills in reading comprehension, vocabulary, language, and math. The test tips are beneficial, and the information and instructions are super-easy to follow.

Developed by a leading educational publisher, Harcourt's Test Prep provides a great opportunity for children to review before taking standardized state tests. Engaging, practical, and easy to use, Test Prep will help your children face the tests with the same confidence that their peers will have.

    Great Test Prep Book

This is the second year we have used Test Prep to prepare us for our end of the year testing. I like how the book covers all subjects and even has practice test at the end of the book. The tips are helpful to remind my daughter what clues to look for when selecting an answer. I will definitely be purchasing the next Test Prep book for the next grade level.

    Nice Book

We have used these in previous years as well. It is a nice review to use before the required state testing. It helps our little one feel less test anxiety when the real one comes around. We usually do a unit a day leading up to test day which works out perfect for our family. We plan to continue to use future years as well.

    Helpful Resource

I purchased this to help prepare my 3rd-grader for the standardized test he will have to take this year. It is his first time taking such a test so I wanted him to feel familiar with the kinds of questions that will be asked. I think this book has accomplished that. He is learning how each type of question works, how to fill in the bubbles properly, and strategies for testing. I do wish it had science and social studies sections, however. It only contains reading, math, and language arts.
