The lab kit contains over 40 of the items you may not, or likely would not, have around the house. You will still need to gather a few things from around the house, like a few standard office supplies, some kitchen items, balls, etc. 

You may also have to buy food items, but trust us, this is a good thing. You do not want a kit shipped to your house full of fresh fruits, vegetables, and eggs that has been sitting on a warehouse shelf. 

However, for the things you would have to pick up at the craft store, hobby store, and/or superstore, this handy kit has virtually all of them in just the quantities you'll need to complete your experiments. This kit also does not include a handful of optional or cost-prohibitive items that you won't find in your home. If you choose to complete those experiments or parts of experiments, you'll need to pick those up.

Note: this kit is designed to be used by a parent or teacher with a child. It is not intended for use by children 12 and under unsupervised. Plus, you'll have so much fun with things like "Testing for Bacteria and Fungi" and "Type Your Blood," why wouldn't you want to join in?
