Fischertechnik Advanced Universal 4 with Engineer

Fischertechnik Advanced Universal 4 was designed for the family looking for a hands-on way to introduce their child to an overview of mechanical construction. The 40 models - including vehicles with steering, transport helicopter, and airplane merry-go-round - are among the most realistic available.

Unlike familiar construction toys, these Fischertechnik models stay together until you take them apart. Indeed, with nearly 500 colorful, injection-molded pieces in Fischertechnik Advanced Universal 4, your child can continue to create their own innovations and bring them to life with the included belt drives, crank handles, cable winches, and gears.

The wordless step-by-step manual means that even reluctant readers will not miss out. Includes the rare Fischertechnik action figure. Fischertechnik kits teach basic technical knowledge and promote spatial thinking abilities, logical thinking skills, imagination, and creativity.

About Fischertechnik

For years Fischertechnik manufactured world-renowned components intended for engineering companies who built prototypes of factory installations.

Those tabletop factory replicas realistically and cost-effectively allowed the engineers to plan, program, develop, and test industrial controls and debug their designs. They even train personnel who would operate the new equipment with these models. Because such tasks demanded precision, the Fischertechnik parts were fabricated with quality and realism.

One Christmas (in 1964), Fischertechnik pulled together an assortment of its components and presented child-friendly modeling kits to engineers and industrial clients. The gifts were so popular that in 1965, Fischertechnik introduced its first building set in Germany.

Over the years, institutions that promote pre-engineering courses for middle and high-school students have used Fischertechnik components in 1,300 schools across the states. Equally valuable in a homeschool curriculum, Fischertechnik allows children to learn technology using the most realistic parts currently available.

Highly regarded by engineers, the ready-to-assemble, compact training models mimic real-life applications and are suitable for education, training, and industry. Engineered to scientific precision and manufactured using high-strength nylon, plastic, and steel, the unique design of these components results in the most durable and reliable connections.

The versatile Fischertechnik basic building block is the basis for all Fischertechnik construction sets. This block's channel-and-groove design allows your engineer to add parts and build on all six sides.

All Fischertechnik construction kits are compatible. Comprehensive, easy-to-understand assembly instructions are included in every construction set.

takes forever to do

My second grader struggled with this, but he is colorblind, so that might be part of the problem. I would suggest doing these as a time period(30 mins or an hour a week) instead of trying to get all the models done in one year. I found that some models were very easy and quick, and some took forever.

Challenging

Even though these are really neat. Each build needs a lot of guidance and help from parents. I even struggle with some of the steps.

Amazing kit but difficult for my second grader

This kit is amazing and has so much to build! It was difficult for my second grader so we will hang on to it and get back out in a year or so and try again.

Really neat, questioning the age though

I really like this product but it's difficult for my 7-year-old. There at many many different pieces and too many of them are very similar so it's hard for my daughter to differentiate. Furthermore, she struggles to slide some of the pieces together without hurting her fingertips. This is not an independent activity for her. I feel like she'll get more out of it when she's closer to maybe 10 years.

Cool but a lot of work

These are awesome trucks that my son loves. It was difficult for him to do on his own though so I had to do most of the work. He’s 7 but there are so many tiny pieces and you have to make sure you have the exact piece with the exact shape and facing the right way. It’s very intricate and kind of exhausting. Once it’s finished though it’s a blast for my boy to play with and he’s so proud of what we were able to create.
