The Laboratory Notebook is meant to accompany the Building Blocks Student Textbook and Building Blocks Teacher’s Manual for one year of study.

There are (22) experiments in each Laboratory Notebook that align with the chapters in the Student Textbook. There are also (22) optional “Just for Fun” experiments. Students perform their own investigations and record their data directly in the Lab Notebook

What Topics are Covered in Book 6?
Exploring the Building Blocks of Science Book 6 Student Textbook has 22 chapters and gives students an in-depth look at technology in science, including a snapshot of the chemistry laboratory and accompanying equipment, the biology laboratory and modern experimental methods, mathematics in physics, how technology is used to map earthquakes, modern telescopes, and how technology has advanced global collaborative projects.

Students begin open inquiry with suggested questions found in the Teacher’s Manual, which also has directions for guiding the experiments. The Laboratory Notebook contains 22 experiments that explore topics covered in the Student Text. Experiments include making measurements in chemistry, exploring acids and bases, using a light microscope, preparing and using agar plates, applying physics to sports, calculating tangential speed, using satellite images to observe changes to Earth, making maps, using triangulation to measure distances, exploring cloud formation, using a star map, and much more.

Each book has 4 chapters of each of the 5 core science subjects (chemistry, biology, physics, geology, and astronomy) and an introductory and a concluding chapter for a total of 22 chapters.
