Latin Everywhere, Everyday: Workbook

Let's be honest, shall we? Who really wants to study Latin? Describe the parts of speech grammatically? And explain the inflection and syntactical relationships? Isn't it difficult enough to stay motivated as you master conjugating verbs for a language that is living? And if Latin is a dead language, what is the point?

If you embrace classical learning, then you may be dumbfounded to hear that many are weary of feeling the pressure to study Latin. But dead or not, Latin underpins many languages; over half of our English words have their base in Latin. Plus, we encounter its abbreviations every day in the form of lbspm, even etc.

Our family has dutifully worked through a couple of different Latin programs. However, the truth is, all we have ever really wanted is for our family to have a nodding acquaintance with Latin terms. Especially those terms that they will encounter in day-to-day living. Previously there was no painless way to accomplish this, but now there is.

Latin Everywhere, Everyday is an easy-to-use workbook of Latin phrases and mottoes for children 10 and older. Your children will learn 180 Latin phrases, one a day, and you will finish this program in a year.

Your children will also learn the Latin mottoes of states, colleges, and organizations. And maybe for the first time, they will fully understand the 29 common Latin abbreviations we use every day. Lots of exercises make mastery easy. The accompanying information is interesting, the illustrations intriguing, and plenty of exercises to bring it all home.

No answers are included in the workbook. The Latin Everywhere, Everyday Teacher's Manual is recommended for that.

This workbook does not come with a pronunciation guide. A digital download is included with the Teacher's manual. All the phrases, mottoes, and abbreviations are pronounced in classical Latin.

The Latin Everywhere, Everyday Teacher's Manual is primarily the answers and includes the digital download mentioned above. It also has additional games and activities to use in class, etc. Still, I think the digital download and answers would be the most critical components in this case.

If you were in doubt about your answers, you could look them up by simply reviewing the material in that lesson. However, the pronunciation audio would be hard to work without if you want to learn to pronounce the phrases.

On the other hand, if you simply want to understand Latin and read Latin phrases with comprehension, I think the workbook alone would suffice. If it is important to you that you pronounce the words correctly, then you will want to purchase the Latin Everywhere, Everyday Teacher's Manual with digital download.

Engaging and interesting!

This workbook is really easy to use and follows the teacher’s guide well. Latin is used in so many words and it’s been fun seeing that through this workbook. My 9, 11, and 13 year old boys are currently using this and they really enjoy it.

Challenging and Fun

My son is in 6th grade and is 11 years old. I bought this Latin book for him and for myself! We do a little bit together every day. We are both enjoying it.

Latin Everywhere, Everyday

I love learning from "Latin Everywhere, Everyday" because expressions like "post meridiem" helped me know what P.M. means. I also love it because most of my friends don't even know what Latin is, so i can tell them all about it and teach them some Latin expressions. These expressions can help me when I grow up because one day I hope to be a scientist.
