An Amazing Introduction to History

This has to be one of my personal favorites in the Timberdoodle line up. It is a great introduction to history and how it works. The material is easy to follow, gives fun examples, and gives the kids a great visual on a Timeline and how it works. It has made a huge difference in understanding future history curriculum.

Its okay

Some of the pages were helpful for my boy but not all of them. It was not super fun for him. It mostly annoyed him when i pulled it out so we probably wont be getting this one for the other kids.

A good intro but...

This book is a great introduction to history, but we got stuck because I need to get myself organized and print out pictures to accompany the timeline. Makes perfect sense and contributes to the adorable factor, but that has been the hurdle for me to get over with this one. As a result, we haven't touched it much this year. My kindergartener sits in on his big brother's history class so, it hasn't been a priority for me to get those pictures printed out.

Great Timeline Resource

My kids (age 5 - 6) really love this workbook! They are always asking to get out "Bede". I enjoy that it is a good, low-stress way to introduce timelines. They enjoy the projects it asks them to complete. I think the price is very fair and I would buy it again.

Foundations of History

Bede's History of Me lays a good foundation for what history is, how timelines function and helps young children to conceptualize the last. The activities are hands-on and engaging. The one critique I've had so far is that it expects better penmanship/drawing skills than what most K/1 kids are ready for, so I wind up helping a lot with drawings. Still, the concepts are solid.
