Mathematical Reasoning Beginning 2

Most parents know that a child who only memorizes math facts without really understanding math will find progressively complex concepts more and more difficult to understand. But what they erroneously think is that such problems arise about the time a child is memorizing the multiplication table. Not so.

Reading is a necessary skill that is tightly woven throughout our entire day. On the other hand, math tends to be a more sporadic subject, essential when you need it and then quickly set aside. That is why it is imperative that a child can reason his way through any mathematical problem.

Award-winning Mathematical Reasoning Beginning 2 is a great place to start. With 282 pages of quick, straightforward problems to build mathematical reasoning skills in pre-K students, these highly motivational activities will take your child beyond mere drill work by using step-by-step, discussion-based problem-solving. Concepts spiral gradually so that children do not forget as they go. The concepts are written to the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics standards. Non-reproducible.

Great workbook!

I got this for my 4 year old because she was always begging to do school like her big brother. I like that the activities are pretty mixed up so she’s practicing and reviewing the concepts without it being super repetitive. There are also logic puzzles mixed in that get her thinking. I like that it introduces counting and adding/ subtracting in different ways visually so that she understands the concept vs just numbers.

We are able to complete multiple pages at a time. I like how there are numbers to trace at the bottom of most of the pages so my daughter can make sure she’s writing the numbers correctly and not backwards. She loves the colorful pictures and different activities. We do incorporate other types of resources and math practice, but this workbook covers a lot so it’s probably not necessary. I would definitely recommend this for preschoolers!

Great resource

We used this as a precursor and supplemental material to our core math curriculum and I loved it. Very helpful in reinforcing basic math concepts in a fun way.

My children really like the Critical Thinking Co. workbooks. The engaging and colorful pages make learning fun, and offer the perfect level of difficulty to leave children feeling challenged yet capable. 10/10 recommend!
