Building Thinking Skills Beginning 2

The sooner your child is introduced to organized analysis, the more comfortable he can later be with other subjects like reading, writing, math, and science. Building Thinking Skills Beginning 2 is a colorful, enjoyable introduction to thinking and problem-solving skills for four- and five-year-olds.

Organized analysis is a new skill for this age group, so this book’s activities focus on building those analytical skills. Plus, if you take the time to ask your child to explain his answers, the assignments are also very effective at teaching academic vocabulary.

Children will appreciate the graduated succession of Building Thinking Skills Beginning 2. The directions are clear, and any busy parent will relish the small number of problems on each page. Building Thinking Skills Beginning 2 is completely reproducible for home use.

From the Publisher:
This colorful, fun yet challenging 240-page book teaches and develops students' thinking and problem-solving skills. It helps students build confidence and self-esteem in their problem-solving skills as they learn new educational concepts. It is common for many preschool and kindergarten students to guess at challenging activities rather than use a reasoned approach (organized analysis) to arrive at an answer. Learning to use organized analysis at an early age is an important part of success in reading, writing, math, and science.

This book is also an excellent test-prep resource for preschool and kindergarten students because the activities exceed the cognitive challenges in most kindergarten cognitive tests. It is also effective at developing academic vocabulary if students are asked to explain why their answer is correct.

Students who begin this book should understand the basic concepts (colors, geometric shapes, types of lines, position, etc.) taught in Building Thinking Skills Beginning 1. Because the activities are challenging—and because of the importance of students verbalizing their thinking—it is recommended that students work with a teacher or parent as they work through the activities.

Great Fun and Learning Too!

This book was great for both my kids to really start thinking about how things work around them. It gets them thinking in ways I never would have thought of and has practical uses. I definitely recommend doing them in order though and not skipping any or it gets a little hard for them to do.

Lots of learning

We have 3 pages left of some challenging pages but it’s been some good learning. All of these thinking skills books have been great. Makes mom and dad think too!

Continues smoothly where beginning 1 left off

I love Building Thinking Skills because they can be used as a stand-alone book, as a supplement, or as a full curriculum for critical thinking from preschool through upper grades.
