My First Touch and Feel Cards: First Words

Flashcards for babies? That was popular in the 1980s. Surely in the 40 years since, something better has been designed. It has. My First Touch and Feel Cards: First Animals are classical educational flashcards but souped-up for today's babies. The set includes 16 sturdy hardboard cards, each suitably thick to withstand clumsy small hands and coated with a wipe-clean covering. Every beautifully-designed photo depicts the name of an everyday item. It also includes a textured portion - fluffy, bumpy, or fuzzy - for your baby to touch and feel. It is perfect for encouraging sensory processing.

However, the back of the card makes the My First Touch and Feel Cards: First Animals an educational treasure chest. Expertly designed to enhance early language development, on the back of each card is a host of questions for parents to ask, from the obvious to the creative. For parents who find themselves asking only "what is this" questions, the prompts on the back of the My First Touch and Feel Cards: First Animals allow for more open-ended questions.

Plus, each box includes ideas for using the flashcards, including simple games. My First Touch and Feel Cards: First Animals are excellent for helping young children develop their verbal skills and vocabulary. The card deck comes in a strong cardboard box with a Velcro closure. The words taught in My First Touch and Feel Cards: First Animals include children's favorite animals, including puppies, kittens, rabbits, cows, turtles, horses, and more!

My son loves these

Huge hit at our house. These are thick and sturdy. Super fun pictures and love that they have the touch and feel things. My son really enjoys them and doesn’t get bored with them.

Never thought I'd love flash cards

These flashcards are just gorgeous with various textures for the "touch and feel" portion of the card. My son loves to look at the pictures of the animals and stroke the various textures while I say the name of the animal. Even better is the backs of these cards have various questions you can ask your slowly budding advanced scholar as well as the spellings and pronunciations of the names of animals in Spanish, French, German and Chinese (Mandarin I think). There are also two instruction cards in the box to give ideas of both simple and more complex games to play with your little scholar the more their skills grow.

I thought flash cards were an outdated concept for 80's super parents. Nope. These provide delightful sensory input and wonderful ideas to incorporate bonding and learning in your little ones.

Fun while learning

My four year old daughter loves this, she is learning English so this is a fun and different way to learn about some animals. Behind the cards there some questions about the animals on the card
