Medical Investigation 101

Your inquisitive high schooler is going to love this course. Medical Investigation 101 is an eye-opening look at how doctors analyze the medical mysteries they face every day.

The central theme of Medical Investigation 101 is the medical diagnostic process using a variety of realistic case studies. It starts with the patient’s chief complaint. The student is instructed to also consider symptoms, examination notes, the patient’s medical records, and so forth.

In Medical Investigation 101, your teen will learn more about situations they might have experienced, seen, or heard. Practical information like lifestyle habits and CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) is also touched on.

The course has three components: the Medical Investigation 101 textbook, the Medical Investigation 101 Workbook, and the Medical Investigation 101 Teacher’s Edition, which is the answer key for the workbook. The Medical Investigation 101 Workbook has several activity pages like crossword puzzles or anatomical drawings to label to reinforce vocabulary and concepts taught.

Even students who have no desire to pursue the medical field will take a keen interest in Medical Investigation 101 because everyone wants to know how their body functions.

Great Curriculum

We have really enjoyed completing this together as a family and discussing the cases together. The workbook is very helpful in the student being able to check they recall the info in the text. We would definitely recommend this to others especially anyone interested in anatomy.

Fantastic way to study anatomy

This is a great curriculum. I have recommended it to several friends with children interested in the medical field. My son is not interested but really enjoyed the curriculum. It’s such a practical, fun, and interesting way to follow up the semester of anatomy study to complete his year. Recommend hands down.

Medical Investigation 101

I was looking forward to using this book for my co-op science class but was disappointed to see incorrect information in it. It says that optometrist do not treat eye infections. This is false. Optometrists do treat eye infections and in many states also treat glaucoma. Now, I will not be using it.

Debbie,
Thank you for taking the time to post this review! We reached out to one of the authors for his thoughts, and here is his response, which we thought you would appreciate hearing:

'Thank you for alerting us that a correction is appropriate regarding the role of Optometrists in today's healthcare arena. Several specialties in healthcare have advanced their scope of practice over the years. Laws specifically regulating the scope of practice can vary from state to state. However, your point is taken, and we apologize for the error. Optometrists currently treat eye infections in the vast majority of states at this time. We took this opportunity to make the correction to our manuscript such that all books printed going forward will simply state that Optometrists do not perform eye surgery as a differentiation from Ophthalmologists. We appreciate your attention to detail and hope you will reconsider our book for your course based on its overall value and knowing that you contributed to improving the book.
